Dear Friends,

I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for your support in reelecting me for
a third term. I am pleased to say that, thanks to you, I received over 75% of the vote.
I appreciate you entrusting me with the very important job of strengthening our
communities and our city. I assure you, it is a mission I do not take lightly.

I want to encourage your continued involvement in the city government process. If
you haven’t already, join your Neighborhood Council or come to a City Council
meeting. I truly believe that only when there is strong, transparent communication
between elected officials and the community does real, positive change occur.

In these tough economic times, the city faces the need for significant cutbacks,
which will force us all to makes some difficult decisions about our priorities for
the City of Los Angeles. But I promise you that I will continue to fight for job
creation and to revitalize the economic engines of our city, including the Port of
Los Angeles and LAX.

Thank you again for your support. Together, we can make Los Angeles a better place
in which to live, work and play.
