SAN PEDRO, CA— Symbolizing her longtime commitment to standing up for working women and men, today on Labor Day, the Los Angeles based International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Locals representing nearly 40,000 of the film and TV industry’s below-the-line workers announced their support of United States Representative Janice Hahn for Los Angeles County Supervisor.
In a media release sent out earlier today by IATSE, the organization announced their support of Rep. Janice Hahn by writing:
“As a previous City Councilmember and a current Congressional Representative, Janice Hahn has been a proven champion for the working people in California. In Washington D.C., she led the effort to make sure that the CA Congressional Delegates all supported the passage of AB 1839.”
Rep. Hahn released the following statement in response:
“I’d like to thank IATSE and their 40,000 members for their support of my campaign for L.A. County Supervisor. Having this endorsement today— on Labor Day— is particularly meaningful to me because I’ve spent much of my career working on issues that impact working people. From advocating for an end of runaway production by keeping current entertainment jobs here in Los Angeles and throughout California, to myriad social and economic justice issues that effect workers, this endorsement serves as evidence of my proven track record of standing up for working women and men. I am excited to partner with IATSE in my campaign.”
Last week Rep. Janice Hahn won a monumental endorsements from United States Senator Dianne Feinstein and from former Los Angeles County Supervisor Yvonne Burke.
Unlike any other candidate running for Los Angeles County Supervisor this cycle, Rep. Janice Hahn has consolidated unprecedented and far-reaching support ranging from the Los Angele County Democratic Party to Republican former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, to myriad labor and business groups and leaders, public safety organizations, women’s groups, environmentalists, grassroots activists and neighborhood leaders, among numerous others.
